Position: Middle School Band Director
Location: Oakdale School
Grade Levels: 5th - 8th Grade

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Middle School Band Director to lead and manage our 5th-8th grade band program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching instrumental music, leading band rehearsals, organizing performances, and fostering a love for music in our middle school students. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and direct band classes for students in grades 5-8.
• Plan and conduct rehearsals for various band groups, including concert bands, jazz bands, and ensembles.
• Develop a balanced music curriculum, incorporating theory, technique, and performance skills.
• Prepare students for music performances, including concerts, competitions, and community events.
• Organize and maintain instruments, music materials, and resources for the band program.
• Collaborate with other music staff and teachers to integrate music education across subjects.
• Encourage student growth through individual and group instruction.
• Manage student behavior effectively and create a positive learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and the school community regarding the band program.
• Attend and support school events and extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field (preferred).
• Certification in Music Education (or the ability to obtain certification).
• Experience teaching band or instrumental music at the middle school level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of band instruments and music theory.
• Ability to engage and motivate students in a positive and supportive manner.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours for performances and rehearsals outside regular school hours.
• CDL preferred, or willingness to obtain CDL
