Job Posting: Paraprofessional

Oakdale Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Paraprofessional to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting student learning and assisting both special education and general education teachers in creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Position Overview

The paraprofessional will work directly with students—primarily in special education settings—under the supervision of certified staff. This individual will support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs while helping maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Para I Certification (or willingness to obtain certification with district support)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children is preferred
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with staff
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assist special education and general education teachers with instructional support
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning
• Support students with academic tasks, organization, and classroom engagement
• Help implement accommodations and modifications as directed
• Assist with behavior support and supervision throughout the school day
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Work Conditions

• Must be able to be on your feet for a significant portion of the school day
• Work schedule follows the teacher calendar, excluding parent/teacher conference days
• Includes a 20-minute lunch and one 15-minute break daily
