Oakdale Public Schools Job Posting: Paraprofessional
Oakdale Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Paraprofessional to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting student learning and assisting both special education and general education teachers in creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Position Overview
The paraprofessional will work directly with students—primarily in special education settings—under the supervision of certified staff. This individual will support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs while helping maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Para I Certification (or willingness to obtain certification with district support)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children is preferred
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
- Assist special education and general education teachers with instructional support
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning
- Support students with academic tasks, organization, and classroom engagement
- Help implement accommodations and modifications as directed
- Assist with behavior support and supervision throughout the school day
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Work Conditions
- Must be able to be on your feet for a significant portion of the school day
- Work schedule follows the teacher calendar, excluding parent/teacher conference days
- Includes a 20-minute lunch and one 15-minute break daily
