Position Overview

Oakdale Public School is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator to serve as our 6th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher. This position plays a critical role in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and civic understanding during a pivotal transition year for students.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging middle-level learners, committed to academic excellence, and eager to contribute to a collaborative school culture in a high-performing PreK–8 district.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in 6th Grade Science and Social Studies

• Foster a classroom environment that supports inquiry, discussion, and hands-on learning (including dissection)

• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs

• Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction

• Collaborate with grade-level and content teams

• Communicate effectively with families

• Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the Oakdale community

Qualifications

Required:

• Valid Oklahoma Elementary Teaching Certification

Preferred:

• Oklahoma Secondary Science Certification 

• Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students

• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills

• Knowledge of inquiry-based science instruction (like OpenSciEd)
